Other than the units described above, Transnet Freight Rail also has International Business unit. This unit is the interface between SADC, TFR, and Ports railways. There are some ongoing projects that are currently being done by Transnet Freight Rail. Those are:

  • Swazilink: this rail is expected to link Lothair to Sidvokodvo in Swaziland
  • Maputo Corridor: a joint project with Railroad Development Corporation to deliver magnetite to Maputo from Phalaborwa.
  • Upgrading rail corridor that connect Port of Ngqura to manganese mines surrounding Hotazed in Northen Cape. It is expected to be 1003 km long and the capacity will be increased to 16 million tons per year from around5 million tons per year.
